Rydweld Porcupine Gorge Challenge

Saturday, 15th June 2019

Registrations

7:50am - 8:50am

Start Time

9:30am

Start times will be staggered.

All competitors must make their way to the bottom of the Gorge prior to start times.

Porcupine Gorge National Park

Pyramid Lookout Camping Ground 73km North of Hughenden

Entries Close

On-the-day registrations close 15th June at 8:50am

Early bird online registrations close 11th June at 5pm

Entry Fees

All participants must pay registration fees and be registered to enter the race. 

Open Men's and Women's - $50.00 Early Bird

Open Men's and Women's - $55.00

Juniors - $35.00 Early Bird

Juniors - $40.00

Participation Walkers - $35.00

Disqualifications

Participants that run in the wrong age group will be disqualified from the race. 

Participants that take a shortcut or divert from the marked track will be disqualified from the race.

Race Time

All participants have 4 hours to complete the course.

Event and Category Information

8yrs and Under 

  • Participants MUST be 5 years to 8 years old to participate in this category. 
  • We recommend parents accompany any children that are not confident to complete the race by themselves.
  • Course distance is approximately 1.1km.

12yrs and Under

  • Participants MUST be 9 years to 12 years old to participate in this category.
  • We recommend parents accompany any children that are not confident to complete the race by themselves.
  • Course distance is approximately 1.6km 

16yrs and Under

  • Participants MUST be 13 years to 16 years old to participate in this category.
  • We recommend parents accomany any children that are not confident to complete the race by themselves. 
  • Course distance is approximately 3.6km.

Open Mens and Ladies

  • Participants MUST be 17 years and older to participate in this category.
  • Course distance is Approximately 8km.

Particpation Walk

  • Participants MUST be 5 years and older to participate in this category.
  • CHILDREN 16 YEARS AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
  • Course distance is approximately 5km.

To qualify for the Local category, competitors must reside in the Flinders Shire.  Proof of residence may be required.

This event is a CASH ONLY event.

The Event organiser may change the event format, course or other race conditions at their discretion. 

Participants must abide by all race rules and directions issued by the Event Officials.

Participant Acknowledgement 
Participants acknowledge that the Hughenden Porcupine Gorge Challenge involves the real risk of serious injury or even death from various causes including overexertion, equipment failure, and dehydration with other competitor, spectators or road users, course or weather conditions and other causes.
 
Participants understand that they should not complete in this event unless they have trained appropriately and a medical practitioner has verified any physical conditions.
 
In the event of a tie situation where two or more competitors cross the finish line simultaneously the money for tied places shall be added together and divided by the number of competitors who are involved in the tie. 
 
Participants acknowledge that they may need medical treatment, including ambulance transportation if the event organisers think desirable during or after the event.
 
Event organizers may use participants Name, image and likeness before, during and after the event for event promotional broadcasting or reporting purposes in any media.
 
I understand that compulsory insurance cover affected for participants in the event does not cover for any illness, injury, loss or damage sustained by me.
 
Safety precautions are undertaken by organisers (such as course supervision and race safety checks) to protect competitors and volunteers but are not a guarantee of safety.
 
Participants are fully responsible for the security of any personal possessions at the event.
 
Participants registration is not transferable to other people unless approved by the Event Organiser prior to the event.
If participants are unable to complete or if the event is cancelled by way of circumstance beyond the control of the event directors, registration fee is non-refundable.
 
The above information includes any participants under 18 years of age. Parents/guardians must abide by the above aknowledgement for their junior participant/s.
